Under the supervision of the Hellenic Army General Staff, the Military Museum of Kalamata presents modern Greek history from the Revolution of 1821 up to the present day, through texts, photographs, and audiovisual material from the army.
With free entrance, everyone has the opportunity to see the museum’s wonderful exhibits.
In its outdoor area, you will see an M48-A5 tank, an M8 armored vehicle, artillery pieces, and an F-5 aircraft, while inside you can see uniforms and military equipment dating back to the Struggle of 1821. Afterwards, you can also see exhibits from the Macedonian Struggle and the Balkan Wars. In addition, a large part of the exhibition is dedicated to the Asia Minor Catastrophe.
There are also sections dedicated to World War I and World War II.
In the specially designed „Sound and Light“ room, a film is shown depicting the historical journey of the 9th Infantry Regiment, while a unique feature is the book of Messenian casualties, listing those who fell in battles from 1897 to 1974.
