The small village of Messinia, which is a green paradise with amazing waterfalls

One of the most beautiful Greek villages, it is located near Pylos, from which it is about 11.5 kilometers away and is built at an altitude of 177 meters. Stenosia, the village of Messinia that stands out for its amazing waterfalls, which become a magnet for visitors just like the entire surrounding landscape. The village has a long history in Messinia, being part of the kingdom of Nestor, ancient Pylos. The settlement was known as Lezagas and from 1940 until today as Stenosia. Based on the 2011 census, it has 446 permanent residents, who are mainly engaged in agricultural work and trade. The amazingly beautiful waterfalls Stenosia is a welcoming village and at the same time an ideal destination for lovers of alternative tourism, while it can be an oasis of coolness and an occasion for family escapes, as the landscapes all around are beautiful. Starting with its unique waterfalls that become a magnet for visitors in all seasons of the year, the village is a small green paradise. In fact, just outside the village there is a green gorge crossed by a calm river, with small waterfalls and ponds. Its total length is 3-4 kilometers and ends at the well-known Kalamari waterfall of Pylia. In addition to its unique natural environment, it is of particular value to note that there the Italians built a dam and created the first hydroelectric station in Messinia that supplied electricity to Pylos. The wonderful waterfalls of the river Neda The river Neda originates from Mount Lykaios, on the border of the prefectures of Ilia and Messinia. As Pausanias mentions, Neda defined the borders of the two prefectures since ancient times. It empties into the Ionian Sea, between the coasts of Kyparissia and Zacharos. The river in a large part of it crosses a ravine with very rich vegetation. Waterfalls are created along its course. The largest is located near Figalia and is about 50 meters high. Voidokilia Beach

Voidokoilia is a beach in Messinia that is considered one of the most beautiful in the Mediterranean. It is famous mainly for its all-round shape reminiscent of the letter O. It is located north of Pylos, on the coast of the Ionian, and is adjacent to the lagoon of Gialova from which it is separated by a strip of sand dunes. The beach and the wider area has been designated a place of special natural beauty and is part of the Natura 2000 Network. At the southern end of Voidokoilia, the Korifassios promontory is developed, where the ruins of the classical city of Pylos were located. The beach is accessed by a dirt road that crosses the perimeter of the Gialova lagoon, by a dirt road from the village of Petrochori and by a path from Divari beach. As for the food, a word of caution is needed here. Precisely because Voidokilia beach is a Natura 2000 protected area, there is absolutely no structure to anything, so as to preserve as much of its natural beauty as possible. Therefore, you will come prepared with food, water, sunscreen, towels, mats and umbrellas and anything else you need. Clearly, you will need to remember to leave the space clean and tidy.
Beach of Gialova

Gialova is a very beautiful beach a few kilometers away from Pylos. In addition to its beautiful waters, in Gialova you can both enjoy its beach bars and indulge in water sports. Anyone who wishes, however, can enjoy the beauties of the beach freely as he has plenty of space to spread out his mat on its powdery sand.
Romanos Beach

Or otherwise, Glyfadaki. It is located close to 15 kilometers from Pylos. Essentially, these are many small beaches that are connected to each other. The first is organized with a beach bar, while the rest are quite quieter so you can enjoy your swim in its wonderful, deep blue waters. Its fine sand and dunes at the back add to the wonderful scenery even more.
Ammolofi Beach

On the other side, on the beach of Romanos, you will see literally huge sand dunes emerge! A small beach, with fine sand and sand dunes, is the ideal choice of parents for their children as our little friends spend endless hours playing in the sand leaving the parents to enjoy swimming in the wonderful waters of the beach.
Divari Beach

Very close to Gialova you will find a 4 km long coast which is also protected by the Natura 2000 protection zone as it is where our beloved caretta-caretta turtles lay their eggs. It has a beautiful sandy beach and wonderful, shallow, blue-green waters, which makes it an ideal choice for families with children. Most of it is a free beach, however for those who wish towards the end, there is an organized part with a beach bar, sunbeds and umbrellas!
